Chey was previously Eco Logical Australia’s (ELA) Site Manager for the company’s Bush Regeneration Team. He has extensive experience in environmental remediation and restoration works; he has liaised extensively with clients and engaged sub-contractors and stakeholders. For the past five years Chey has implemented and managed restoration works within Cumberland Plain Woodland, which is an Endangered Ecological Community (EEC), across many sites in western Sydney. In fact, Chey has worked on numerous projects in a variety of locations and vegetation communities throughout the Sydney Basin and in NSW and the NT generally, with particular extensive experience in many EECs including Sydney Blue Gum Forest, Sydney Turpentine Ironbark Forest and Sydney Coastal River-flat Forest. As ELA’s Site Manager he has written proposals, budgets and management plans, as well as daily, monthly, annual reports and for general site management tasks such as maintaining spray logs and completing daily and monthly site summaries. He has also planned and carried out vegetation mapping, threatened species surveys and translocations of threatened flora and fauna species (i.e. Pimelea spicata and Meridolum corneovirens), along with impact remediation and repair. Prior to working with ELA, Chey spent 11 years with Urban Bushland Management Projects where he supervised and undertook bush remediation and restoration works.
Chey also directs the collection, processing and storage of local provenance seed for the company’s restoration works including the implementation of native direct seeding for re-vegetaion purposes. Chey has excellent plant identification skills, particularly for the Cumberland Plain, and is involved in annual monitoring of plants, frogs, bats and erosion nick points in stream beds. As previously Site Manager for Eco Logical Australia, Chey was responsible for overseeing, co-ordinating and implementing the work of up to fourteen personnel as well as various sub-contractors.
Chey has extensive field experience in bush regeneration techniques, creek line remediation and sediment control, GIS mapping as well as degraded site management. He also has a good understanding of NSW and Commonwealth legislation regarding the environment and OH&S issues.
Chey left ELA at the end of the year 2015 and commenced CREW Restoration in 2016.
